A real-time game environment created in Unreal Engine 4 and finished in UE5.
A section of the "United Earth's Federation" ship "Huntington" designed for the long term storage of deep space travellers by process of freezing. This area houses "cryo pods" that can store crew members, bodies, or prisoners for long journeys through space. In an emergency they also fill the role of escape pods, wherein they are jettisoned through the iris on which each pod stands, out into the vacuum.
I was heavily inspired by games such as Star Citizen and the Halo Franchise while creating this project. I followed Star Citizen's approach to environment production for as many things as I could. I also wanted to ensure the whole environment was as modular and customisable as possible, so colours and surface properties could all be adjusted on the fly using parameters in the material instances. All props (excluding the actual pods themselves), were constructed in the same way. I did most of the work for this project in UE4, but towards the end, UE5 was released, so I thought I'd migrate the project over, and it just worked! I'm a huge fan of the new setup, Lumen in particular is fantastic.
Thanks for checking out my project, I'll be uploading more work in the coming weeks.
